On March 18th, 2021, GEI held an online meeting with STZA (Special Technology Zones Authority) of Pakistan, at which two sides exchanged views on issues such as entrepreneurship training and cooperation on science parks.
The Special Technology Zones Authority of Pakistan was established in December 2020, directly under the lead of Cabinet of Pakistan. It is responsible for promoting the development of science parks and improving the construction of national science and technology innovation system. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan served as the chairman of the board of directors, and Mr. Amir Hashmi served as the executive chairman of the Authority.
Mr. Amir Hashmi has been an old friend of GEI. He has participated in the international training workshop on "Science Park Construction and Management" undertaken by GEI. After Premier Imran Khan's visit to China in 2019, Mr.Hashmi put forward the idea of building a special science and technology zone, after which the Prime Minister decided to set up the special zone administration. According to Mr.Hashmi, a special cooperation plan has been formulated and reported to the Cabinet, in which GEI has been taken as a strategic partner to support the development of science parks in Pakistan.
Mr. Wang expressed that GEI is willing to participate in the planning, consultation and training of science parks in Pakistan, and establish a closer relationship with the Special Technology Zones Authority of Pakistan with the hope of promoting China's experience in building science parks and encouraging the development of science and technology industry.
