In February 2021, Intellectual Property Office of Hainan Province has drafted the “Sanya Yazhou Bay Special Intellectual Property Zone Construction Plan”, and will work with agriculture, courts and other departments to explore the construction of special intellectual property zone in Sanya. It will focus on creating an integrated intellectual property protection mechanism with the seed industry as the core, establishing an intellectual property protection system in line with international standards, and strengthening the intellectual property protection of the seed industry in Hainan Province. So far, it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Development Center of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, aiming to jointly explore the internationalization of intellectual property protection rules of the seed industry, including the joint construction of molecular detection laboratory, the center of review in new varieties of plants, and the center for global animal and plant species authentication and appraisal.
