General Manager of GEI Mr. Wu wensheng attended Startup Genome’s "Startup Ecosystem Acceleration in a Post-Covid World" conference

On the afternoon of October 27, General Manager of GreatWall Strategy Consultants Mr. Wu Wensheng, was invited to attend Startup Genome's " Startup Ecosystem Acceleration in a Post-Covid World " conference and delivered a speech. More than 30 experts in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship from around the world participated in the online discussion of this conference to share insights on the Startup Ecosystem Acceleration during the COVID-19 pandemic. Startup Genome launched The Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2021 at the conference.

Genome's Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2021 studies 280 innovation ecosystems and more than 3 million startups, analyzing global innovation and entrepreneurship from multiple dimensions of time and space. It also ranks, introduces and analyzes Startup ecosystem from geographic regions as Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, North America, Oceania and Latin America. At the same time, the conference also released The Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2021 Life Science Edition.

General Manager Wu Wensheng shared the situation of China's Startup Ecosystem in 2020 at the conference. Wu said that in recent years, the number of newly registered enterprises in China has maintained continuous growth, and the number of newly founded enterprises in 2020 increased by 22% compared with 2019, indicating that China's Startup ecosystem still maintains relatively strong vitality. Mr.Wu also introduced to the participants the situation of unicorns and soonicorns in China in 2020 (Research Report on Chinese Unicorn Enterprises 2021, by GEI). He pointed out that with the changes in the international environment and the intensification of technological competition, China has seen a significant increase in entrepreneurship and early-stage investment in some key technological fields, such as integrated circuits, commercial aerospace, new energy and intelligent vehicles, quantum technology, etc. The number of new unicorns and soonicorns in these sectors has also increased significantly. Meanwhile, the number of unicorns and soonicorns in the life and health sector was also growing significantly due to the impact of COVID-19. In addition, General manager Mr.Wu indicates that a series of regulations for Internet and other fields introduced by the Chinese government since June 2020 will have a significant impact on entrepreneurship and early-stage investment in these fields, but its influence remains to be further observed.
